Chances are good you've heard of Apple's innovative new mobile phone, the iPhone. Some of you guys might even have been lucky enough to get your hands on one. That's awesome, they're really cool phones...but where are all the awesome iPhone downloads? Where are the hottest songs as ringtones, and all your favorite videos? Sure you can use iTunes, but wouldn't you like something better?

Don't get me wrong...iTunes will probably work okay, but there are alternatives. Cheaper alternatives. iTunes isn't exactly what we'd call "inexpensive." Doesn't iTunes even charge a dollar PER SONG? Ten bucks for an album? Yeah, see...that just doesn't do it for me.

I don't have my iPhone yet, but when I get it I'm going to be loading it with music and videos...and I just don't feel like paying 99 cents per song to fill up that 8 gigs worth of space. I mean, when you've spent 20 bucks all have is 20 songs...and as any music lover will tell you, 20 songs gets old pretty fast. Any kind of mp3 player with iTunes is going to be a very expensive habit, and let's face it. Most of us who are using these things are kids or college students. I'm 19 and going to college, and I don't exactly have 20 bucks to spend every week or so on a fresh round of songs. I mean, the iPhone itself costs 600 dollars! Doesn't leave much in my entertainment budget.

So what would you say if I told you that there was a completely legal peer-to-peer filesharing service that was specifically built towards providing top-grade music and movie downloads for the iPhone, at a LOT cheaper price than iTunes?

I'm guessing I'd have to get some new shoes to replace the ones you're drooling on. Great, that's coming out of my clothing budget.

But yeah, anyways. There's a service that's a lot like the paid version of Limewire, specifically built towards iPhone downloads. A one-time fee that's ultimately less than what it would take to fill your iPhone up ONCE, and it allows for a lifetime of unlimited downloads. And I'm not just talking about music here. They've got movies, TV shows, even eBooks in their database. It's a decentralized p2p system too, so they're not going to get shut down like the infamous Napster incident.

Are you drooling on my NEW shoes? Ok, that's enough of that. Check out this other site over on Hubpages...it has some more information on this download site, and if you decide that you'd much rather hand out a moderate chunk once than let iTunes drain your bank account dry over the rest of your life, you can get to the download site from there too.

Iphone Games Download

Enter your email address Now:

Getting iPhone Games Downloads to Play On the Go

One of the more advanced features that the iPhone has over the more traditional iPods is the addition of a touch screen user interface. That way, you can use the whole face of the iPhone as your controls, and the keyboard and keypad is onscreen as well. This has added a new dimension to the whole iPod experience, and it has taken games on the iPod to a whole new level.

Where it used to be that Windows and Palm OS dominated the touch screen games market, and they had games on those platforms as well. Not just any games, but big hits from some of the top developers around. Now those games are being released on the iPhone platform, so if you want to play a game that's on your friend's PDA, you can pretty much find an equivalent for your iPhone. Finding classic favorites like Zuma, a game where you shoot balls using a stone frog, is easy, since these games now have iPhone versions.

Downloading full games versus using the browser

The safari browser on iPhones and iPod Touch units is a cool tool in its own right. You can surf the net on this software, and not only that, you can also use the safari play games using the browser's java engine. There are a lot of good quality java games out, all you have to do is surf over to the right website. But then again, it only works when you have WLAN access at the ready, if not, then no games for you.

You should consider downloading games onto the iPhone itself because if you don't spend a lot of time online on your iPhone, you won't be able toplay games as well. You'll want to install games on your iPhone instead when there isn't a WLAN access point nearby, since you'll be able to play games as long as the battery holds up if you install games.

Download Sites for iPhone Games

Of course, you can always download from top iPhone download sites, and not just games specialists. Along with games, you can also download music and video, but then if games are your focus, there are iPhone games sites that specialize only in games, both online and downloading. Since games for the iPhone are mostly done by third-party developers, you can visit their websites to check out what they have to offer for you. Along with download sites and developer websites, you can also see iPhone owner forums so that you can check out what they have to say about games, and they also might have game demo downloads.

There are also games on iPhone owner forums that are not available anwhere else. There are emulator programs for the iPhone by enthusiasts themselves, so that you can play classic titles for different classic gaming consoles, right on your iPhone's screen.

The directional and control buttons are built onto the touch screen interface itself so it might take some getting used to compared to traditional joystick controls and D-pads. Since these emulators are usually made by talented owners themselves, the program might be a bit buggy, but then, that's what subsequent installs are for, and there's no replacement for playing classic games that you grew up playing.

Syncing iPhone and iPod touch with your computer

When you connect iPhone or iPod touch to your computer, items are automatically synced between the two according to your preferences. You can, for example, enter phone numbers and addresses of friends and family members on your computer, connect iPhone or iPod touch to sync, then unplug iPhone or iPod touch and tap a friend's name on the touch screen to call.

You can sync

  • Contacts-names, phone numbers, addresses, email addresses, and so on

  • Calendars-appointments and events

  • Email account settings (only on iPhone)

  • Web bookmarks

  • Music and audiobooks

  • Movies

  • TV shows

  • Podcasts

  • Photos

You only have to set which items are synced in iTunes on your computer once. After that, just connect iPhone or iPod touch to start a sync.

Contacts, calendars, and bookmarks are synced from (or to) your computer, so if you add, change, or delete them on iPhone or iPod touch, they are changed on your computer, and vice versa. You can also sync contacts with your Yahoo! Address Book (Except yahoo.co.jp accounts).

Email account settings (on iPhone only), music, movies, TV shows, podcasts, and photos are synced one-way, from your computer to iPhone (though you can import photos taken with iPhone to your computer).

If you like, you can set iPhone or iPod touch to sync with only a portion of what's on your computer. For example, you might want to sync only a group of contacts from your address book, or you may want to sync only songs from certain playlists so you don't fill up iPhone or iPod touch with all your music.

Setting Up Syncing

You use iTunes on your computer to set up which items are synced. Make sure you have the most recent version of iTunes (On a PC, open iTunes and choose Help > Check for Updates. On a Mac, open iTunes and choose iTunes > Check for Updates.

Step 1: Connect iPhone or iPod touch

  1. Connect iPhone or iPod touch to your computer using the included cable. You can connect the cable from your computer directly to iPhone or iPod touch, or connect the cable from your computer to the Apple Universal Dock (available separately) and put iPhone or iPod touch in the dock. By default, iTunes opens automatically.

  2. Select iPhone or iPod touch in the iTunes source list.

Step 2: Set Up Which Items Are Synced

Follow the steps below for each item you want to sync.

Set contacts to sync

Any Contacts you've chosen to sync, such as those in Address Book or Microsoft Entourage on a Mac or Windows Address Book (Outlook Express) or Microsoft Outlook on a PC, will be synced with iPod touch. If you sync with Yahoo! Address Book, you only need to click Configure to enter your new login information when you change your Yahoo! ID or password after you've set up syncing.

  1. Click the Info tab in iTunes, then do one of the following:

    • If you're using a Mac, select "Sync Address Book contacts."

    • If you're using a PC, select "Sync contacts from" and then choose Yahoo! Address Book, Windows Address Book, or Outlook from the pop-up menu.

  2. Select "All contacts," or select "Selected groups" and select the groups you want to sync.

  3. If you're using a Mac, select "Sync Yahoo! Address Book contacts" if you also want to sync with your Yahoo! contacts.

You only need to click Configure when you change your Yahoo! ID or password after you've set up syncing. Click Configure and enter your new login information.

Note: Syncing won't delete any contact in Yahoo! Address Book that contains a Messenger ID, even if you've deleted the contact from your address book on iPhone or your computer. To delete a contact containing a Messenger ID, log in to your Yahoo! account online and delete the contact using Yahoo! Address Book.

On a Mac, when you sync Address Book contacts with iPhone or iPod touch, any other address books you've set to sync with .Mac, such as your contacts in Microsoft Entourage, will also be synced with iPhone or iPod touch.

Set calendars to sync

When you sync Calendars with iPod touch, calendars you've set to sync, such as your events and tasks in iCal and Microsoft Entourage on a Mac or Microsoft Outlook on a PC, will be synced with iPod touch.

Click the Info tab in iTunes, then do one of the following:

  • If you're using a Mac, select "Sync iCal calendars." Then choose "All calendars," or choose "Selected calendars" and select the calendars you want to sync. Then, from the pop-up menu, choose the calendar on your computer to update with events you create directly on your iPhone or iPod touch.

  • If you're using a PC, select "Sync Outlook calendars."

On a Mac, when you sync iCal calendars with iPhone or iPod touch, any other calendars you've set to sync with .Mac, such as your events and tasks in Microsoft Entourage, will also be synced with iPhone or iPod touch.

Set email accounts to sync (only on iPhone)

You can sync email account settings from Mail on a Mac, or Microsoft Outlook or Outlook Express on a PC.

  1. Click the Info tab in iTunes, then do one of the following:

    • If you're using a Mac, select "Sync selected Mail Accounts."

    • If you're using a PC, select "Sync selected mail accounts from" and then choose Outlook or Outlook Express from the pop-up menu.

  2. Select the accounts you want to sync.

Set bookmarks to sync

You can sync bookmarks from Safari on a Mac, or Internet Explorer and Safari on a PC. Click the Info tab in iTunes and select Sync Bookmarks.

Set music, podcasts, or video to sync

  1. Click the Music, Video, or Podcasts tab and select Sync, Sync Music, Sync TV shows, or Sync Movies.

  2. Set sync options. You can sync all items, selected items or playlists, or a number of recent, unwatched, or unplayed items. In the Music tab, you can elect to also sync music videos. If you sync music, audiobooks are synced too.

Set photos to sync

You can sync iPhone or iPod touch with photos in iPhoto 4.0.3 or later on a Mac, or Photoshop Album 2.0 or later or Photoshop Elements 3.0 or later on a PC. Or you can sync with any folder on your computer that contains images.

  1. Click the Photos tab and select "Sync photos from."

  2. From the pop-up menu, do one of the following:

    • If your using a Mac, choose iPhoto or your Pictures folder.

    • If you're using a PC, choose Photoshop Album, Photoshop Elements, or your My Pictures folder.

    • Choose Folder, then choose any folder on your computer that has images inside.

  3. Choose "All photos," or choose "Selected folders" or "Selected albums" and choose the folders or albums you want to sync.

Step 3: Sync iPhone or iPod touch

Click Apply in the lower-right corner of the screen. Your computer syncs with iPhone or iPod touch according to your settings.

The first time you sync iPhone or iPod touch, you are asked if you want to merge data, replace data on the service, or replace the data on your computer. After that, anytime you connect iPhone or iPod touch to your computer, iTunes opens and syncs with iPhone or iPod touch according to your settings.

Note: When syncing with Yahoo! Address Book, you do not have the option to replace the data on Yahoo!.

You can adjust sync settings anytime iPhone or iPod touch is connected to your computer. You can only connect and sync with one iPhone or iPod touch at the same time. If you need to sync more than one iPhone or iPod touch, disconnect one before connecting the other.

Important: You should be logged in to your own user account on the computer before connecting iPhone or iPod touch. If you connect more than one iPhone or iPod touch to the same user account, use the same sync settings for each.

iPhone Tips and Tricks You Need to Know

Discover the real secret of Apple iPhone, Find greatest iPhone tips
Enter your email address Now:

All of us folks who are lucky enough to already have an iPhone know how much fun they can be just to play around with. Playing with my iPhone a lot myself, I have discovered some cool tips and tricks that you may find useful.

1. If you tap once at the very top of the screen when you are on the internet, it will take you back to the top of the window rather than having to scroll all the way back up. A nice time saving feature.

2. If you set the font to the smallest size, you can read more in the internet window. An advantage of this is that when you want to click a link, you can pinch (expand) that area and the link will come up very large, making it much easier to click.

3. Rather than posting the full address of internet sites in bookmarks, you can post the equivalent RSS address instead into Apple's RSS reader and save that as your bookmark. This way you can quickly see if there's anything interesting on your favorite site rather than downloading the whole homepage.

4. If you are writing something and the iPhone flags a word as misspelled that you know is not misspelled, cancel the correction 3 times and the word will be put into the dictionary. If you write a lot, this feature is quite useful!

5. The magnifying glass is a nice iPhone tool when you are typing an email or any other text. If you tap once and hold, a magnifying glass will pop up showing you a zoomed in view of your words and cursor. You can now easily place the cursor wherever you want. This makes editing your writing very easy.

6. You can move icons around, but not on the home screen. You have to go to the ipod section. Go to iPod > More > Edit. Now you can drag your icons all around. This can also be done in the phone section.

7. To reset your iphone, hold down the right button and the "home" front button for about 6 seconds. To power it back on, push the top button. This is different than a regular shutdown, which can be done easily by holding the sleep/wake button for 6 seconds.

8. If you get a lot of spam e-mail or other unwanted e-mail, pay attention to this time saving feature. Add a link to Yahoo mail in Safari bookmarks. From there you can check 'delete all' to remove all unwanted e-mails. This is much easier than deleting hundreds of spam e-mails one at a time.

iPhone: How to get from 2G to 3G without killing sales

Discover the real secret of Apple iPhone, Find greatest iPhone tips
Enter your email address Now:

For Apple (AAPL), the transition from the 2G (or 2.5G) iPhone to the 3G iPhone is a tricky one.

We know the new model is coming sometime in 2008. Steve Jobs hinted as much in September, and AT&T's (T) Randall Stephenson confirmed it last month.

The problem for Apple is that it must get formal FCC approval before it releases any new radio-based device. Such applications are public documents, which makes it hard to keep a new cellphone secret for very long.

Jobs unveiled the original iPhone six months before it shipped. If he announces the 3G iPhone ahead of time, he risks choking off sales of the 2G model.

What to do?

The stock traders at The Mac Observer's Apple Finance Board have started speculating about how Apple might handle this delicate transition. One of the moderators, a Devon-based investor who calls himself sleepygeek (and uses those quaint British spelling conventions), offers a few ideas:

  1. innovative confidentiality agreements with approval agencies.

  2. No change in appearance - so that those encountering the device in advance don't realise it has new hardware.

  3. Covert hardware upgrades (like macbook 802.11n) so that iPhones sold in the weeks before announcement already have the important new hardware.

  4. Trade in programme - those on contract (and generating revenue share) can trade-in the old iPhone and start a new 2-year contract.

  5. price/model alternation (similar to macbook/macbook pro): new features are announced on a much more expensive model, which becomes the standard at the standard price at the next model change.

How do you think Steve Jobs ought handle the 3G introduction?
